Holmes Beach commissioners split on Second Avenue traffic restrictions

HOLMES BEACH, Fla. (WWSB) – A debate over traffic on Anna Maria Island’s Second Avenue remains unresolved, with Holmes Beach city commissioners and residents divided over whether to restrict the road that drivers use to bypass congestion on Gulf Drive.

Second Avenue was once used primarily by locals as a back road to avoid island traffic. City Commissioner Carol Whitmore said the route is heavily used during high season.
