Sarasota County commissioners voted Tuesday to approve a permit for a 528-foot raised seawall at a waterfront property on Siesta Key, clearing the way for a project designed to strengthen shoreline protection while acknowledging the potential for altered stormwater drainage on neighboring properties.
The seawall will be constructed at 7811 Midnight Pass Road, where county records describe an existing low-lying concrete seawall along the bayfront shoreline as being in “disrepair.” The property, approximately 1.5 miles from Turtle Beach, is divided by Midnight Pass Road and includes a small portion of Hidden Lagoon, according to county documents and project renderings.
