Downtown Sarasota medical office building sells for $8.43M

An investor has purchased a nearly 20,000-square-foot medical office building in downtown Sarasota for $8.43 million and plans to reposition the property. The seller of 1970 Golf St. was 1970 Golf LLC, which is owned by entrepreneur Jesse Biter.

The buyers were Abdelrahman and Sara Ayyad of Edgewater, Maryland, according to Sarasota County property records, which show the sale closed July 1. Abdelrahman Ayyad is the CEO of Maryland-based Regency Furniture, which has stores in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast.

The 19,500-square-foot building on Golf Street was previously occupied by Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute, which has relocated to a 60,000-square-foot facility at Sarasota Memorial’s new $220 million cancer pavilion on Waldemere Street. The two-story medical office building on Golf Street, built in 2002, had housed Florida Cancer Specialists for more than 20 years.
