2 men arrested with nearly 6 kilograms of fentanyl-laced cocaine, Bradenton police say

Police arrested two men in Bradenton who had nearly 6 kilograms of fentanyl-laced cocaine in their car, according to a news release.

An officer with the Bradenton Police Department performed a routine traffic stop Thursday after observing an unassigned license plate on the vehicle, according to an arrest report. A narcotics K9 inspected the vehicle and found 5.8 kilograms of cocaine laced with fentanyl, police say.

Police also seized over $2,500 in cash from the vehicle, an arrest report said.

The driver, 50-year-old Roberto Verdugo Luna, and a passenger, 38-year-old Julio Cesar DeLeon, have both been charged with trafficking in cocaine, according to police. Luna is also charged with driving with a suspended license. DeLeon faces a resisting arrest without violence charge, as well.

Further information about the arrests was not immediately available Friday evening.
