A Night to Shine needs volunteers after the prom

VENICE — A red carpet will be rolled out for those attending the Tim Tebow Foundation’s “Night To Shine.”

A Night to Shine is a prom night experience, “centered on God’s love, for people with special needs ages 14 and older,” according to organizer Tracie Pustizzi.

Pustizzi and her army of volunteers transform Lift Church, 695 Center Road, in Venice on Feb. 9 into a beauty salon, dining and dance hall for nearly 100 special needs guests.

Pustizzi still needs a handful of volunteers to help at the day after the prom.

“Last year, we had 150 volunteers,” she said, adding those 16 and older can volunteer to be a buddy and or help in other areas of prom.

She needs some help putting the church back together on Saturday, Feb. 10.

Teens who want to help are required to have a signed parent consent form signed and can be given volunteer hours toward their graduation requirements.

So far, 107 volunteer buddies are signed up to help at the prom. Each guest is assigned a buddy for the evening.
