Coast Guard rescues stranded boaters near Venice

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) rescued stranded boaters near Venice on Sunday night.

A crew from USCG Station Cortez in Manatee County were called out to help two distressed boaters, the Coast Guard wrote in a social media post .

The boat, called Revival, lost steering about two miles west of the Venice Inlet, likely due to rough seas. USCG reported 5-6 foot seas and 15 kt. (17 mph) winds in the area.

USCG broadcasted a warning to boaters about the unoccupied vessel.
