Man Arrested In St. Petersburg For Attempted Murder After Early Morning Shooting

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – A 35-year-old man was arrested early Wednesday for attempted murder after shooting a man inside a residence in St. Petersburg.

At 1:55 a.m. this morning, officers responded to 653 64th Avenue South about a man who was shot inside the home.

Investigators believe this was a domestic-related incident. The suspect lived at the home, and the victim was known to the suspect. This was not a burglary, police say.

“The victim is alive and is being treated at the hospital,” said SPPD.

Jacob Merrett, 35, was arrested and charged with Attempted Murder in the First Degree.
