Benvenuto, Mama’s! Englewood restaurant reopens

ENGLEWOOD — Italian-food lovers don’t have to wait any longer for Joe’s Specialty Pizza at or their other favorite Mama’s menu items.

Mama’s Italian Restaurant reopened Friday to an enthusiastic and hungry lunch crowd.

The Englewood staple has been at 2091 South McCall Road for more than 42 years, serving up classic Italian dishes from eggplant parmigiana to fettuccini alfredo.

Before being renamed Mama’s in 1982, it was the Englewood Pizza Pub for about a decade.

The Guido family have been owners for around five years, making sure to keep the tradition of Mama’s alive in the community.

But the place was hard hit by Hurricane Ian on Sept. 28, 2022. The restaurant was severely damaged and had to be shut down.

Truex Preferred Construction has been working with the Guidos to get Mama’s functional.

The wait is finally over.

Customers — both new and returning — recently filled Mama’s tables.

Frank Castanien was the first to grab his favorite table, saving a spot for his wife, Denise, who came in a few minutes later.
