NORTH PORT — North Port’s Ukrainian National Women’s League hosted a recent luncheon, welcoming Open World Delegates from Ukraine.
The six Ukrainian visitors are experts in their respective fields and work for Universities in their native land. They are in the United States to make professional connections that will help them find innovative ways to build back up after the war ceases.
Ukrainian-American Veteran Post 40 partnered with UNLWA Branch 56 to welcome them to the city of North Port.
Priya Ahluwalia, and the local Rotary club, also helped facilitate the event and activities.
Each visitor gave a speech in Ukrainian, detailing their expertises, while thanking the branch for having them.
The group then visited North Port City Hall where they were gifted North Port themed T-shirts and Tervis tumblers as souvenirs.
Economic Development Manager Vinnie Mascarenhas and Assistant City Manager Julie Bellia explained the workings of the city government.
They explained how the Ukrainian portion of the population makes up roughly 5% of North Port’s residents.
