VAC readying for area’s largest art show

VENICE — Venice is known for its variety of artists, and next weekend, their work will be on display in the area’s largest annual sale.

Whether they are painting, sculpting, making jewelry, weaving, painting fabric or creating something from findings at the beach or hanging from trees, they are leaving their mark.

Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 17 and 18 at the Venice Art Center, you can see their output and take it home to make your own mark on your decor.

It’s all original and whether you are seeking jewelry, the perfect picture for a feature wall, pillows for the couch, a special creation for your garden, note cards, religious icons, a stained glass window, a handmade bowl or coffee cup or pitcher, a scarf or shawl, a painting, it will be at the Venice Art Center.

Now in its 22nd year, this annual event draws a lot of people from the community.

“Last year, 4,000 visitors and buyers made their way through the center,” VAC director Mary Moscatelli said.

Many make a day of it with lunch at the Art Cafe, which features soups, salads and sandwiches, many with an Italian flavor.
