Sarasota Police divers recovered a car and body found submerged in the water near the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall on Sunday.
A boater called the police early Sunday morning after seeing the roof of a car in the water. A dive team was called out after officers confirmed it was a submerged car. They were able to recover the car and a body.

Public Information Officer Cynthia McLaughlin said the agency is withholding the name of the person who died at this time. They believe it was a tragic accident.
The traffic homicide unit is investigating the events that led up to the crash.
