What to know: Sarasota-based Boar’s Head recalls deli meat amid listeria outbreak

Sarasota-based Boar’s Head has issued a mass recall due to a possible listeria contamination, per an alert from the U.S. Department of Agriculture ’s Food Safety and Inspection Service.

The company, whose headquarters is located at 1819 Main Street, is recalling more than 200,000 pounds of liverwurst products and several other meats due to possible contamination, the USDA reported. The recall comes following two deaths and 33 hospitalizations across 13 states from a nationwide listeria outbreak linked to deli meats.

What products did Boars Head recall?

The bulk of the recalls are ready-to-eat liverwurst loaves produced between June 11 and July 17. The following products have also been recalled:

  • Old-Fashioned Ham with a sell-by date of Aug. 10
  • Italian Cappy Style Ham with a sell-by date of Aug. 10
  • Extra Hot Italian Cappy Style Ham with a sell-by date of Aug. 10.
  • Bologna with a sell-by date of Aug. 10.
  • Beef Salami with a sell-by date of Aug. 10
  • Steakhouse Roasted Bacon Heat & Eat with a sell-by date of Aug. 15
  • Garlic Bologna with a sell-by date of Aug. 10.
  • Beef Bologna with a sell-by date of Aug.10.
