SMH Sarasota campus logs ninth consecutive year with 5 star federal agency ranking

For the ninth year in a row, the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid awarded Sarasota Memorial Health Care System’s flagship Sarasota hospital campus with its highest 5-star overall star rating .

The Sarasota campus is one of 17 hospitals across the country – and the only one in Florida – to continuously earn that 5-star rating.

The accolade, announced on Wednesday, is the second earned by Sarasota Memorial Health Care System this month. Most recently, Sarasota Memorial Health Care System ranked as the No. 7 best workplace for women in the country in a list developed and released July 23 by Forbes.com.

Earlier in July, U.S., News & World Report included Sarasota’s public hospital in its “Best Hospital” rankings.

In March, Sarasota Memorial Health Care System earned a 5-star rating on Newsweek’s 2024 list of “America’s Greatest Workplaces for Women.”

The Venice campus, which opened in November 2021, earned a 4-star rating in its first year of eligibility. Data from 2021 would have been used in some of the scoring metrics.
