After a Florida-wide manhunt for a homicide suspect, Florida Highway Patrol announced Wednesday they nabbed the suspect on Interstate 10 in Santa Rosa County.
FHP says they captured 20-year-old Idus Murkerson of Bradenton, Florida, on I-10 near mile marker 22. The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office had an active warrant for Murkerson on once count of second-degree murder with a firearm.
FHP did not detail what occurred during the homicide.
According to WTSP.com , Murkerson is one of two suspects who were sought after Palmetto Police officers located a man dead inside the trunk of a car with multiple gunshot wounds on Sunday. The car was found in the Palmetto Estuary Nature Preserve and later identified as Manuel Escobar, according to a news release from the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.
Murkerson was taken into custody without incident and will be extradited to Manatee County.
