Man claims prize after local store sells $1 million jackpot

TALLAHASSEE – A man who bought a lottery ticket in Englewood claimed a $1 million prize this week.

The Florida Lottery announced that John Long, 68, claimed the cash from the Jackpot Triple Play game.

Long bought his ticket from Dearborn Corner Market at 598 West Dearborn St., Englewood.

The drawing was held on Oct. 24, 2023, at Lottery Headquarters in Tallahassee.

The full jackpot for Long’s winning ticket was $1.75 million. Long chose to receive his winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $1,006,498.50.

The Corner Market has sold some winning tickets over the years.

In 2014, Mark Lewis bought a $20 Monopoly Millionaire scratch-off lottery ticket and won $3 million, according to the Florida Lottery.

The store received a bonus commission of $1,000 for selling the jackpot-winning ticket, according to the Florida Lottery.

Jackpot Triple Play tickets are $1. Jackpots start at $250,000 and can roll over to reach $2 million.
