‘Guitar Groove’ brings music opportunity to Englewood youth

ENGLEWOOD — The Englewood Creative Arts, through the Englewood Community Coalition, will be hosting free beginner guitar classes this fall.

The classes will be from 10:15 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. on Saturdays from Oct. 5 through Nov. 9 at the Elsie Quirk Library, 100 W. Dearborn St., Englewood.

Professional musician and trained musical therapist Jill Brown will instruct the course. She also is the owner of Playdate Harmonies LLC, and hopes to spread the joy of music to children and families across Sarasota and Charlotte counties.

“Her goals are to engage children in music activities to facilitate learning, self-expression, and skill development,” a news release said. “Jillian’s teaching style embodies kindness, patience, and understanding, ensuring that every student feels supported and encouraged.”

“The program, conceived over the summer, is to bring joy and the appreciation of music to the youth of the Greater Englewood Area,” the news release said.

On the last class period, Nov. 9, there will be an optional performance opportunity.
