Venice swimming is under new management.
Following several successful seasons with head coach Jana Minorini leading the program, both swim teams will now look to first-year head coach Alina Tucker for guidance.
Tucker, 25, was an assistant coach at Venice last season and is entering her third school year as a marine science and biology teacher at the school.
“I didn’t expect to get the head-coaching position this soon, but it was definitely a main goal of mine,” Tucker said. “I want to be a positive influence to these kids, and I want to be that coach that helps swimmers get to that next level and swim in college.”
Tucker, a New York native, swam in high school and on a club team during her time in the Empire State before going on to swim collegiately at Southern Connecticut State University for three years, where she saw tons of success as a freestyle sprinter.
“All three years I was at SCSU, we won the Northeast-10 championships,” Tucker said. “Its was a wonderful experience, and It was always fun to be a part of the winning team.”
