DEADLINE: Aid applications for Hurricane Debby due today

SARASOTA — Residents still looking to get some help to recover from this season’s first big hurricane have only hours left.

Applications for federal assistance for sustained loss from Hurricane Debby are due tonight.

Homeowners and renters in Sarasota County with losses may be eligible for FEMA financial assistance for displacement, basic home repairs, personal property losses and other uninsured or underinsured disaster-caused expenses.

If eligibility is met, applications can be filled at DisasterAssistance.gov, on the FEMA App through mobile devices or by calling the toll-free number 800-621-3362.

The telephone line is open and help is available in most languages. If a relay service, captioned telephone or other service is used, give FEMA the number for that service.

Those that need a visual example to help apply can watch the FEMA Disaster Assistance application YouTube video.
