Floridians and visitors to Florida know that there are several popular eateries on Florida’s piers that are fun places to dine. Pier 22 and Doc’s Ford are just a few examples. Unfortunately, one eatery in this genre – Venice’s Sharky’s On The Pier -was recently temporarily shut down after a state inspection.
About Sharky’s On The Pier: This eatery has been in business for 35 years and was voted Florida’s Best Beach Bar in 2013, 2018, and 2019. There’s an emphasis on seafood, but it serves a wide variety of food in a festive atmosphere with live music.
Many Floridians and visitors have enjoyed this eatery located at 1600 South Harbor Drive. It has been reviewed over 12,000 times and it earns 4.4 out of 5 stars on Google reviews. A typical good review comes from Shelle who wrote, in part:
“Sharky’s Restaurant is a true gem right on the beach in Venice, Florida. The atmosphere is perfect for a laid-back meal with stunning ocean views. The food is excellent and offers great value, especially considering the generous portions…The complimentary strawberry bread was a delightful surprise, reminiscent of the banana bread we make back home in North Dakota—sweet and moist!… If you’re in the area, Sharky’s is a must-visit!”
