New FL Store Of Eatery With Chicago Hotdogs & Italian Beef Named Among “Best” Restaurants Planned

Some people believe that you can get an authentic, decent-tasting Chicago hot dog outside of the Windy City. That may be especially true in Florida, which has a large number of Illinois transplants, some of whom now own restaurants that serve Chicago favorites. Those who are open to eating Chicago staples outside of Illinois may be happy to know that a new Florida store of a chain that was once named as one the nation’s “best” fast-casual restaurants is planned.

About Portillo’s: This is a vintage chain that began in Chicago in the 1960s. It is reasonably priced. You can get a regular Chicago dog for $3.89 and you can get a regular Italian beef sandwich slow-roasted for four hours for $7.89.

There are currently eight Portillo’s Florida locations. Many Floridians enjoy the chain. For example, a Brandon, Florida location earns 4.5 out of 5 stars. Catie leaves a typical good review, writing:

“I adore Portillo’s! They are simply the best. I make the hour-long drive to Brandon or Tampa just to dine there. My absolute favorite item on their menu is the beef and cheddar croissant. Wow, what an amazing sandwich! The meat is always exceptional, and their croissant, soaked in gravy, is out of this world. It’s a unique treat that I can only find at Portillo’s.”
