9-foot gator tries crossing Sarasota County road, gets wrangled before telling the ‘tail’

VENICE, Fla. (WFLA) — A nearly 9-foot gator that snuck its way onto a country club’s property in Venice was captured.

On Monday, deputies with the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office were called to the Jacaranda West Country Club in Venice for a giant alligator causing a traffic jam on Sklar Drive.

With the help of a Florida Fish and Wildlife trapper, deputies wrangled the 8.9-foot beast and loaded him up onto a trailer.

The video shows officials secure the gator, as it attempted to fight back, overturning and squirming on the grass. As they dragged it toward their vehicle, deputies had to use a lengthy pole to keep the massive animal at bay.

Eventually, the gator was hoisted onto the trailer, where it was relocated to a breeding farm…
