GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Zion James, 15, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison, followed by two years of house arrest and eight years of probation, for his role in the death of Wilber Perez at Tiger Bay Apartments in April 2024.
James was charged as an adult with armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, tampering with evidence, distributing a controlled substance, and using a two-way communications device to facilitate a felony after reportedly meeting Perez to buy marijuana, pretending to pay for it with a “Cash App glitch,” and then snatching the marijuana and running. Kemani Hill, 14, who allegedly shot Perez, has also been charged as an adult and is awaiting trial…
