SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – Protestors held a ‘Hands off Social Security’ rally in Sarasota on Tuesday morning. It happened at the intersection of South Tamiami Trail and Siesta Drive, in front of a Social Security office.
The protest comes in response to the Social Security Administration announcing plans to cut 7,000 jobs, or 7% of its workforce. The cuts are part of a larger reorganization of the agency. President Trump has made a promise not to touch Social Security benefits, but these protestors told ABC7 they are scared.
