Venice plan board to consider affordable housing standards

VENICE — The city hasn’t had any applications to develop affordable housing under the state’s Live Local Act in the nearly two years since it was adopted. But staff is proposing adding a section to the land development code, to be positioned to deal with one in the future.

The Planning Commission will consider the proposed code amendment Tuesday.

The code has long included a density bonus for affordable housing projects. “(H)owever,” the staff narrative says, “there are no development standards or reporting requirements in the code that would apply specifically to these projects.”…
