‘Mess is an understatement’: St. Pete-Clearwater Airport shut down due to bomb threat

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (CBS12) — The St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport was shut down for several hours Friday for a bomb threat written on a lavatory door.

According to Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri, just before 5 p.m., as the plane was preparing to head to Cincinnati, a flight attendant opened the rear lavatory door and found a threat to “place an explosive device” written on the door.
