Sarasota County helping fight unemployment among Suncoast veterans

SARASOTA COUNTY, Fla. (WWSB) – On Wednesday Sarasota County hosted another Job Fair to show residents what career opportunities are available for them, but this particular event was different than the others.

For the first time, the county opened the first hour 10a.m to 11a.m only to veterans on the Suncoast looking for jobs. Heather Hendricks, the Manager of Workforce Planning with the county told ABC7 they want to make hiring veterans a priority, especially since Sarasota County is home to over 36,000 veterans, according to the U.S Census Bureau.
