Manatee sheriff’s website lets citizens file their own police reports

BRADENTON, Fla. (WWSB) – The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office has unveiled a self-service system for citizens to file their own police reports for certain crimes.

The Online Reporting System on the sheriff’s office website explains it is only for incidents that happen in unincorporated Manatee County. “If the incident happened inside the city limits of Bradenton, Palmetto, Holmes Beach, Bradenton Beach, or the Town of Longboat Key … you will need to contact the … agencies based on where the incident occurred,” the site says.

Some of the common types of reports you can file online include:

  • Information reports (noncriminal complaints)
  • Lost property
  • Minor traffic collisions
  • Thefts
  • Vandalism
  • Credit/debit card fraud
  • Check forgery
  • Identity theft
  • scams
  • shoplifting
  • supplemental reports (to add information to an existing report)
