Amtrak breakdown in Georgia strands Scouts from Sarasota

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – A rail adventure turned into a travel nightmare for a Sarasota Boy Scout troop on their way back from a camp in North Carolina.

Amtrak says a mechanical problem with an engine caused the breakdown of an Amtrak train near Jesup, Georgia Sunday morning that left more than 200 passengers stranded for several hours in sweltering heat.

Some of those on board included more than 100 Boy Scouts returning home from a weeklong summer retreat at Camp Raven Knob in Mount Airy, North Carolina…
