Paraglider crash ruled a false alarm

VENICE — A report of a motorized paraglider crashing into the Gulf northwest of the Venice Fishing Pier on Friday afternoon was a false alarm, police stated.

Ray and Lori Steele, of North Port, were having an anniversary lunch at Fins at Sharky’s when he noticed what he thought was a paraglider in the air a mile or two out over the Gulf.
