SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – A Sarasota man was convicted on July 30 of animal cruelty for starving his dog to death, according to the Twelfth Judicial Circuit State Attorney’s Office.
On Thursday, July 31, State Attorney Ed Brodsky announced that Zachary Saunder Baumer was convicted of Cruelty to Animals and Confinement of Animals without Sufficient Food, Water, or Exercise after a jury trial on Wednesday.
Court documents said Baumer kept his dog, Chevy, locked in a cage in a hot garage for months, “where he slept on a pile of garbage.” An air conditioner and a loaded refrigerator also contributed to extremely hot temperatures inside the garage where Chevy was kept…
