Three Arrested in Sarasota Heroin Trafficking Case Tied to Mexican Cartel

SARASOTA, Fla. – The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) has arrested three individuals accused of participating in a transnational drug trafficking organization operating on behalf of a Mexican cartel.

Jose Luis Solorio-Ruiz, 67; John Lewis Crismon Jr., 76; and Emilio Garnica, 37, were each charged with one count of conspiracy to traffic heroin and one count of trafficking heroin. Authorities confirmed that Solorio-Ruiz is an illegal alien from Mexico with an active deportation order.

The investigation began in April 2025 when FDLE agents received intelligence about a cartel-connected drug trafficking operation working across multiple states.
