Florida learner’s permit now requires new 6-hour class

As students settle back into school this coming fall semester, teens looking to get their learner’s permit will now need to take a new class.

A new state law, starting Aug. 1, requires that residents under 18 years old trying to acquire their learner’s license must take a 6-hour driver’s education course to do so.

Previously, teens only needed to only complete a four-hour traffic law and substance abuse education course. The new class, which will be more in-depth, replaces the current one…
