SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) — No matter how choppy or violent the water gets, Captain Brian Martel becomes his own ballast. That’s what happens when you’ve spent 70 years navigating the Gulf.
“By the time I was 10, my dad gave me a boat and motor and said, ‘Get lost! Dinner is at 6,” he says.
They say you’re swimming with sharks when you’re in danger. Captain Brian? He caught them.
“You couldn’t get that experience anywhere else or that excitement,” Martel said. “Sometimes when you bring them up to the boat, they get really nasty. But that’s all part of the fun.”…
