Parking fees could be coming to Holmes Beach; the first city in Manatee County to charge for beach parking

HOLMES BEACH, Fla. (WWSB) – Big changes could be coming to Holmes Beach. City Commissioner Dan Diggins is proposing to have parking fees on the beach.

Manatee County has always had free parking on all of its beaches. Diggins said the only way he believes parking fees could work on Holmes Beach is if officials in the 3 cities on the island, Anna Maria, Holmes Beach, and Bradenton, as well as the county, agree on the plan.

“Everybody I talked to says it’s inevitable; we’re going to have to pay for it at some point. Well, I just want to know when the inevitable begins. And I think it begins now,” said Chair of the Holmes Beach City Commission Dan Diggins…
