New law makes it felony to restrain dog outdoors during natural disaster

A new Florida law aimed at protecting animals during severe weather is about to go into effect.

It’s called Trooper’s Law — named after the dog found tied to a fence post near I-75 in Tampa during Hurricane Milton last year. The owner evacuated and was later charged with animal cruelty.
