SARASOTA — After the announcement of budget cuts, financial shortfalls and a hiring freeze, Sarasota County Schools has tied the bow on its budget for the rest of the fiscal year.
The school system’s fiscal year actually began on July 1, so it has been operating without a final budget for months. Schools spokesperson Kelsey Whealy said the budget is normally approved earlier but delays from the state pushed the process back.
