Sarasota County bringing fleet services to Nokomis

NOKOMIS — Sarasota County broke ground Thursday on a new, centrally located Fleet Maintenance Services facility that’s expected to have many benefits for the more than 1,700 vehicles and pieces of equipment for which the General Services Department is responsible.

The new facility will be a milestone for Fleet Maintenance Services, Director Dan Rodriguez said.

It processes more than 6,500 work orders a year, he said, and this year achieved a double distinction by being awarded second place in the American Public Works Association’s 2025 Best Government Fleet in North America and a 16th-place ranking by the NAFA Fleet Management Association…
