LONGBOAT KEY, Fla. (WFLA) — Longboat Key’s town hall workshop meeting could potentially decide whether or not to rename Gulf of Mexico Drive.
Due to a new law as a result of House Bill 549, the Florida Department of Transportation removed all the Gulf of Mexico Drive signage on State Road 789.
“State Road 7089 is our main street and has been Gulf of Mexico Drive since 1957. So it’ll be, a discussion with the town commission and our community about, if they would like to stay with Gulf of Mexico, drive or if they would like to consider a change to it,” said Longboat Key town manager Howard Tipton…
