Bradenton school zone cameras catch lots of speeders, police say. See the numbers

A driver going 67 mph in a Bradenton school zone was among thousands caught by the city’s photo-enforced speed cameras since the new school year began in August, according to police.

Since Manatee County schools resumed Aug. 11, officials say Bradenton’s school zone cameras have issued 3,541 violations — more than 300 each week on average. The Bradenton Police Department shared the update to social media on Monday, reminding drivers to slow down near campuses.

The school zone cameras, introduced during the 2024-25 school year after the state authorized automated speed enforcement, record vehicles and allow police to issue violations for vehicles traveling more than 10 mph over the posted limit…
