Condo inspection law passes first hurdle

VENICE — With minimal discussion Tuesday, the Venice City Council sent a new ordinance regarding structural inspections of condominium and cooperative buildings of three or more stories on to second reading.

A state paw passed in the aftermath of the Surfside collapse in 2021 had authorized local governments to adopt an inspection ordinance. The law was amended this year to require them to, Building Official Derek Applegate said.
