MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — Commissioners in Manatee County will hear from the public before voting on whether or not to adopt a juvenile curfew ordinance.
During a meeting in August when the topic came up, commissioners expressed concerns over crimes happening once the sun goes down. Crimes such as car burglaries, thefts, vandalism, and gun violence.

“We’ve got a lot of teens that are not being supervised that are committing some crimes and we want to make sure that our officers have the ability to figure out what is going on and hopefully stop some of those crimes before they start,” said Commissioner Amanda Ballard. “It is kind of a dual-prong thing both for the good of the kids, as well as for the people in the community who are having a lot of issues with crime.”
The curfew applies to anyone under 17 years old. If approved, it will run from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday through Thursday and between 12:01 a.m. and 6 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday…
