The man many consider the greatest documentarian to ever live is coming to the region for a pair of rare speaking engagements. Ken Burns, the award-winning PBS director and producer, is taking the stage at Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall in Sarasota on Monday, January 12, as part of the Ringling College of Art + Design Town Hall Speaker Series.
Burns will give two talks that day, with a morning presentation at 10:30 a.m. and an evening show at 7:30 p.m. As with all Speaker Series events, tickets are available to members first. Any remaining single tickets for the general public will go on sale in January, and you can register for access to those tickets here.
While Burns isn’t shy about appearing on the other side of the camera, his public appearances are often limited to interviews with major media outlets. The opportunity to hear him speak candidly in person about his work and perspectives is a rare one for the region…
