TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — With the holidays come plenty of gifts and electronics, but parents beware: these devices powered by lithium-ion batteries can also be dangerous without the proper precautions.
As you are throwing away the wrapping paper and breaking out the new holiday gifts, fire officials want you to know how to be careful with anything that has these types of batteries.

“Today, there’s lithium-ion batteries in just about everything in your house — From laptops to phones to scooters and even your toothbrush,” said Johnny Rigney, with Sarasota County Fire Department.
