SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – Southside Elementary School celebrated a major milestone Friday morning, marking 100 years of academic excellence. The Centennial Celebration brought together current and former students, staff, families and community leaders for a program of memories, music and student voices that highlighted the school’s lasting local impact.
The festivities ran from 8:30–11:00 a.m. and opened with a community breakfast catered by Morton’s, a family-owned business with multi-generational ties to Southside. From 9:00–10:30 a.m. the Centennial Program reflected on the school’s history, honored former educators and students, and looked ahead to the school’s future. The morning concluded with a birthday celebration — complete with the school song “Hoorah for Southside.”
