Woman arrested for pickpocketing on St. Armands Circle in Sarasota

A woman was arrested after she was suspected of carrying out a coordinated pickpocketing and credit card fraud scheme across multiple Florida cities, according to the Sarasota Police Department.

The 52-year-old woman was arrested Jan. 2 following a traffic stop in Osceola County. Additional charges are pending from Sarasota police. Police said the arrested suspect has a criminal history in multiple states that includes fraudulent use of identification and credit cards, grand theft and money laundering.

The investigation began on Dec. 26, when officers responded to a reported theft at a business on St. Armands Circle. Surveillance video shows three suspects entering a business and sitting at a table next to a mother caring for her newborn, police said…
