THE SCENE | Blunchtime: Where to fly mimosas any old time

Social media has the temporarily shuttered The Islands Kitchen & Cocktail House right up there with Matt Devitt, aswirl with controversy.

Until it gets open — which, we’re assured, is right around the corner and has absolutely nothing to do with the food — we might as well do brunch, a freshly trending event that really needs a new name.

We favor “blunch,” which smacks of “blending” (as in different cuisines, like brekkie ramen or B.E.C. eggrolls), “blushing” (as in wan cheeks revived with Bloody Marys or mimosas), and “blurring” (as in the arbitrary boundaries between mealtimes)…
