BRADENTON, Fla. (WFLA) — The Florida Highway Patrol said a 74-year-old man was killed in Bradenton on Monday while trying to cross the street.

The pedestrian was crossing 60th Avenue West at around 6:50 p.m. in a marked crosswalk when he was struck by a vehicle near the entrance to Publix. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The vehicle continued driving and entered the nearby Flamingo Garden Apartment complex. The driver stopped momentarily before reentering 60th Avenue West and fleeing westbound.
