It’s a cold snap for the Suncoast with a freeze possible inland

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – Today across the Suncoast, much cooler air has settled in behind a cold front. A Cold Weather Advisory is in effect this morning, a Freeze Watch is posted for late tonight into Tuesday morning, and a Fire Weather Watch covers today due to dry air and gusty winds. A Small Craft Advisory remains in effect for Gulf waters through early Tuesday, and a High Rip Current Risk continues at area beaches. Temperatures early today are in the 40s with brisk north winds making it feel colder.

This afternoon will be sunny but cool and breezy, with highs only in the mid to upper 50s. North to northwest winds will gust over 20 mph at times. The dry air and wind will create high fire danger across the Suncoast.

Tonight will be clear and cold. Lows will drop to around 38 degrees inland and near 40 along the coast. Some inland spots could briefly reach freezing by early Tuesday morning. Tuesday will be sunny but still cool, with highs near 60 and lighter winds by afternoon…
