Pelot’s Rexall Pharmacy closes after more than 130 years in downtown Bradenton

BRADENTON, Fla. (WWSB) – Pelot’s Rexall Pharmacy, a downtown Bradenton fixture for more than 130 years, closed its doors Tuesday and listed its building for sale.

The closure marks the end of one of Bradenton’s oldest businesses. The pharmacy has been located in the Davis Building at Manatee Avenue and 9th Street East since 1934.

The pharmacy traces its origins to the late 1800s. Owner Robert Pelot said his great-grandfather acquired the business before dying of yellow fever in 1887, after which family members continued running it…
