A 64-year-old Sarasota County man was convicted of second-degree murder with a firearm and sentenced to life in prison in connection to the killing of a 57-year-old woman in August 2023.
Darryl Dye, of North Port, was found guilty by a jury on March 20, and immediately following the verdict was sentenced to life in prison, according to a Twelfth Judicial Circuit State Attorney’s Office news release.
“It is truly humbling to be able to achieve justice for the victim of such a horrific and senseless act of violence,” Assistant State Attorney Jordan Greene said in the news release. “The outcome of this trial was truly a team effort between the Office of the State Attorney, North Port Police Department, and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
